While Mortlach has been quietly making whisky in Dufftown since 1823, this 2014 release was exceptional and rightly brought to the world’s attention.

Matured for 25 years in refill American oak casks, the spirit has an appealing amber colour, and is showcased in an elegant bottle. In a break with tradition, this whisky uses 50cl bottles, partly because the design looks better at that size and partly to make this genuinely rare whisky go further. The aroma hints at pineapple and citrus, while the taste is more robust, with chocolate and spice notes.
